Eric,
<<why sell a stock that is turning around? >>

We likely have different strategies in mind. I am selling WDC not because I own it but because I wish to short the stock where I see a potential for a correction here. You are holding the stock longer term in anticipation of a turn around. Do I think WDC will turn around long term? Honestly I don't know. The DD landscape, long term, is a tough one. I do think the stock could see current levels again before the end of the new quarter. They have a very tough task ahead of them but the upside comes from new IBM JV products (finally) and they seem now intent on making the cuts they should have done before. I intend to play the short by ear and watch it closely. If you are content to stay long patiently I couldn't fault you too much except, perhaps, for the discussion of alternative investments.

<<if you are still holding at a loss, what is the point of selling now? >>

Always the point here would be to move money into a more productive investment. But short termers historically do more poorly then long term holders. You realy must consider investment style, near term goals, long term goals, etc etc ad nauseum. As usual, there are no simple answers.
Best,
Stitch
