"I've heard from several people now that Bellvue #2 is going straight down, with a view to intersecting Bellvue #1 near TD.
Does anyone know this for sure?"

Yeh, the man calling the shots.

My understanding is that #2 is angled towards #1 already but because of the pressures involved, the intercept will have to be much closer to the bottom than originally planned. Then they'll have to go back up a ways and start drilling down again at a different angle. Hence the prayers to kill her from the surface so as not to waste a whole lot more of time.

As far as the concerns expressed elsewhere about their ability to hit the right spot, keep in mind there is a metal casing down there to guide them. Visualize it as a magnet guided operation if you wish. Anyway, finding the intercept seems to be one of our lesser problems.
