They have no virtual monopoly. People who want Internet access are free to go elsewhere. However, ATHM *does* have a virtual monopoly, because, if your cable provider is TCI and there is no DSL solution available to you, then you have to use ATHM for high-speed Internet access. You cannot choose your ISP.
