Winston I agree with you entirely that this is one heck of a company. However, when Microsoft starts talking about Y2K spending bubbles and freezes afterwards, this is something new.

You just can't justify a P/E this high when a spending freeze is looming. Even IF there is one more quarter of of Y2K bubble -- as you point out, Office 2000 should sell well -- if the bubble gets larger from here, the subsequent spending freeze will cause a pop which is all the bigger. THAT is why they are saying this now. There may be one more quarter or so of Y2K bubble, OR there may not be. After that, it is all downhill.

Can everyone sell at the same high price once the Y2K spending freeze starts kicking in? I think not.
