Today at 1:25 p.m,, TokyoMex touted an internet company called Navidex (NVDC, warrants NVDCW), implying that NVDC, through Bear Stearns, had "filed a new IPO today" for www.autobytel.com (a car buying service). At the time of TMex's post, NVDC was trading around 9 bucks, and NVDCW at about $2.50. By the end of the day after 'ole TMex's rumor was regurgitated all over SI and Yahoo, both stocks closed up over 25%.

The punchline is that Navidex does NOT own autobytel.com (which TMex acknowledged AFTER the bell), nor is there any evidence of a planned IPO by either company. This may or may not be a good short, as the float is only 2.5M and shares will be hard to borrow for most people. Also, the company, IMO, has a service that's well suited for the internet. Problem is, false rumors and fake gurus are also well suited for the internet.
