A lot of people on these boards simply lkike to slam wirehouses and their analysts....funny thing is though, when they say something nice about a stock creating flow in the desired direction, they are everyones heroe. Let me repeat, he has had a buy for 4 months and made over %100. This is not last to the party, but a near perfect call. He expressed caution before earnings but continued to recommend shareholders add positions in orcl....end of story

>>>There's nothing like being last to the party.<<<

LML, I'm not so sure the party, so to speak, has really started just yet. I think we're probably seeing the very early stages of cocktail hour. Just before the very very big party begins. I think the recent analyst upgrades at least provide some insight that the Oracle vision of Internet Computing/Ecommerce.... will position them as the Goliath in enterprise software. A current market valuation of $50b will look like a bargain 1 to 2 years out. Just my $.02 of course.

Thoughts, opinions, anyone?

John

I have read your last few posts about doing your own DD and NOT relying on analysts.......of course I agree. The problem is , for example, someone like me who is NOT in the industry and really does NOT understand fully the ramifications of new products, cycles, etc...competition from msft and Lord knows who else......WE REALLY HAVE LITTLE CHOICE but to listen to the "experts".

I am not saying blindly follow their advice but you must admit they usually have an effect on the price of the stock.

Actually, I find the threads more helpful and then use the analysts recommendations as a confirming factor.....plus I use info in IBD.
