There is no surplus. This phantom number was generated because of Social Security surplus .. that is more SS income than pay out.

By saying that they propose to leave 62% of this "surplus" intact is another way of saying that they only intend to rip off 38% of our retirement accounts that they are supposed to leave alone anyway.

As they know that this money will be needed for future expenses (pay outs), calling it a surplus is a complete fraud. It is not a surplus if it is already committed, as it is. As a matter of fact, as they keep pointing out, the Social Security fund is under funded. "It will run out of money in the year .." Since they know that it will run out of money, why does everybody believe that this money is surplus?

How kind of them .. they propose to steal only limited amount of our retirement.

Then, of course, they will let us put our $38 per year into the stock market. Then when the bubble pops they will tell us it's our own fault that Social Security went broke.
