TAVA/R.W. Beck LLC and the City of Los Angeles Tackle Year 2000 Issues

January 20, 1999 07:59 AM
SEATTLE, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- TAVA/R.W. Beck LLC, the leading Year 2000 solution provider to the power industry in control system environments, is beginning the process of remediation for power entities and water utilities across the country and globally. Now the company brings its unique approach to bear in the wastewater utility sector.
Starting immediately, TAVA/R.W. Beck LLC will utilize its unique package of Y2K tools and training to provide professional and expert technical services to achieve Year 2000 compliance at several City of Los Angeles wastewater treatment and conveyance facilities operated by the Department of Public Works, Bureau of Sanitation. Primary services are to include inventory, testing and preliminary engineering for remediation. Other significant tasks will be related to preparing contingency plans and an overall program management plan. Work has begun at the Hyperion Treatment Plant, where systematic inventory is focusing on identification of embedded systems while simultaneously preparing for testing of mission critical systems. Similar procedures will follow at three other treatment plants and approximately 60 pumping stations.

"Our approach continues to prove itself as 'best- of- class' ," said the LLC's president and CEO, Don LeMaster. "Our tools, services, power industry experience and teaming agreements with other companies can't be duplicated. Our unparalleled abilities allow us to go in and start solving problems immediately, where other providers have to start each assignment from scratch. We look forward to working with the Bureau in this important endeavor."

I would agree with the way it was greeted, but as for the 90 seconds part, I can't think of anything in the speech that got any more time than that.

TN:

TAVA is caught between a rock and a hard place... The companies it is doing work for would rather not have it publicized that they may be susceptible to Y2k problems... As such, when TAVA begins reporting great earnings and some of its customers are free from Y2k worry, they will step out along with TAVA to make the positive pronouncements... Until then, the earnings will have to do the talking... Good numbers can talk very loud... : >
