John,

I suppose we forget that we on the thread are more informed than the majority of investors out there...

Could it be that we don't see much merit in Faber's news because we have discussed these very points on the thread? Ad nauseum, might I add?

The majority of investors out there don't have access to SI or similar, and as a result, when they see news like that on CNBC, hop on immediately without any real research...

John: I appreciate the coincidence of the timing. But do institutional buyers sit around watching Faber and then commit such huge sums on so flimsy a story, in a flash? It may be what we are witnessing is a converging of "news". The cumulative effect of the fundamental news from the company and from the computer market, the pressure being built up by so many analysts converting to CPQ, as well as a touch of internet hysteria. We may have seen a collapse of resistance from those who were waiting for Compaq's earnings before buying - they were all straining at the starting-line and somebody said "bang" and they all fell forward.
