Yes there was a news item about a month ago that said SUNW execs had told analysts that they would meet expectations but were unlikely to beat them. I'm sorry I can't locate a link, but I'm positive I saw the item on the wires.

For some reason everybody thinks there's going to be "great earnings plus a split". I've seen no indication of any of this. I think that with all the deals announced this quarter, it's likely to show up in the April report as positive, and there's some possibility that they monkeyed the AOL deal to have a positive effect in December. But SUNW is known to have switched to a new accounting system and was obliged to ship even more orders than usual in the last month of the quarter, and were not shipping at all for some number of weeks. They may or may not have made up the lag, but they were being cautious.

I just hope when they report tomorrow there's not too much of a backlash if the results are merely in line with expectations. As for a split...who says so?

Regards,

sunw MNGMT said they would NOT beat the ernings. WINTEL did not split and maybe sunw won't etiher. TODAY is the day to take profits
in SUNW. having said that i m NOT taking profits. and waiting for
a split and price rise of 142. this does not mean we go straight up.
intenet commerce sales should be UP and ISPs who would want to copy AOL's buying...will conintue to propel this stock

i m not a good mrkt timer execpt that stocks don't go up everyday
but they DO in a loong run.
