Dad I hate to disagree but putting part of SS money in the market is not socialism on the contrary it is the mother of all capitalist ideas.I haven't looked at the 'goverment influence business' but any influence should be market friendly at least I would think,besides it is not the governments money it is you and I who put up the money,no? Perhaps the influence can be taken out of the equation if the individuals are given the option to invest the money on their own somehow,sort of like the company IRAs.
