WDC...NITE...HDI news excerpts: * Knight/Trimark (NITE) posted a $0.33 4Q earnings gain versus a gain of $0.18 in the year-ago quarter. The results beat the Street's expecations - the First Call consensus estimate was $0.26. * Western Digital (WDC) reported a narrower-than-expected FY99 2Q loss of $0.93 versus a loss of $1.66 for the same period one year ago. The First Call consensus estimate called for a loss of $0.99. WDC also announced that it filed for a public offering of up to $190 million of common stock. * Ruddick Corp (RDK) booked FY99 1Q earnings of $0.27 versus earnings of $0.26 in FY98 1Q. The results were a penny better than the First Call consensus estimate of $0.26. * Harley Davidson (HDI) reported 4Q earnings of $0.39 versus earnings of $0.28 in the year ago period. The First Call consensus estimate was $0.36
