re DELL LEAP
I think I'm a newbie too, although I've been doing this since last Sept. People on this thread have been wonderful to me and have helped me so much.
You did a wonderful thing: you will get the benefit of the DELL shares going up without spending so much money to do it. Get an idea in your mind of what you want from this LEAP (Its a 2001 so you have OOOOODLES of time) Do you want a triple? A quadruple? Do you want to see it split (when DELL does) so you will have two, or split again so you will have four? Dont panic if DELL (and the LEAP) go down sometimes. You are on your way. You will be well rewarded!
If you dont need the money when this LEAP has reached your target, simply sell it, keep a little for yourself if you want (and taxes if we still have capital gains by then...I can hope) and get some more LEAPS further out (if DELL still has the promise it has now.)
Good luck!
Wise Choice!

I just bought a Jan 2001 LEAP Strike: 100 Price for $ 25 US this morning.

Jean, your Jan 2001 100 call looks fine to me. Right now, you can expect it to go up about .6 points for every point rise in the stock. The bid is already at 26. Watch it over the days ahead and calculate your percentage gain and compare it to the percentage gain for the same dollar amount of stock. You will do better with the call.

The Jan 2001 calls are pretty conservative. If you had bought the Feb 100 calls, it would be a different (very risky) story.

BTW, all of my investments in Dell are calls, mostly LEAPS; no stock.

Jean --- my DELL comments on your LEAP purchase:

Yes, Jean, I think you did good. Just remember, when in doubt, check with Kemble or this thread for:

.... BUY MORE DELL .......

this means:
BUY the stock
BUY the LEAPS
BUY their products --- hats, golf shirts, T-Shirts, warmups, mouse pads, etc.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. They make GREAT computers, too.
