Aren't those Eugene newspapers? I lived there for about 6 months back in 81. Butt I think it's "cute" the way the Surfers name gets shortened in the Oregonian and Willamette Week. You should tell us about Veryyyyyyy strange Gibby. Don't tease. Let's just say that there was lots of drugs, sex, alcohol, squalor and mumbling. My interaction with Gibby and the band was somewhat peripheral since I was hanging with fIREHOSE. If I gave too many details, y'all might get the impression that I am something other than my sweet innocent self. I'll see if I can dig up some of those long lost memories...I might actually have some of them written down somewhere. JXM
