SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 20,
1999 via NewsEdge Corporation -

TDMI To Implement Online Marketing
Programs to Acquire New Customers for
Leading Provider of Interactive Grocery
Shopping Service and

Increase Sales Among Existing Customer
Base.

Times Direct Marketing, Inc., a leading San
Francisco direct and online marketing agency,
today announced that it has been named the
online marketing agency of record for
Peapod,Inc., a leading provider of interactive
grocery shopping services. Times Direct
Marketing Inc. (TDMI) was selected following
a national search.

The agreement calls for online marketing
programs that will help acquire and retain
new customers for Peapod's online grocery
service in addition to increasing orders with
existing customers. To help acquire new
customers, TDMI will develop direct response
banner advertising and email to educate
prospects about Peapod's services. TDMI will
also develop electronic newsletters, email,
and other direct marketing programs to
communicate personalized information to
Peapod's customer base to help increase the
amount and frequency of orders.

Online grocery sales are projected to grow to
$3.5 billion by the year 2002 according to a
recent article in the Wall Street Journal.
Overall, online purchases are expected to
grow from $7.8 billion in 1998 to $108 billion
by 2003 according to Forrester Research.

"This business win is important because it
clearly demonstrates how organizations are
now shifting their focus on interactive
marketing away from an advertising model
and more toward a direct response model,"
said Mr. Chris Peterson, president of TDMI.
"In 1999 and beyond, you're going to see a
lot more agency reviews that will require
firms to have interactive technical expertise
and solid, strategic direct response skills as
well."

"We chose TDMI because they clearly
understood electronic media while also
bringing very strong direct response skills to
the table," said Tim Dorgan, Executive Vice
President of Marketing at Peapod. "This
combination of skills is exactly what we need
to build our business."

Peapod is a leading interactive provider of
online grocery shopping in Austin, Boston,
Chicago, Columbus (Ohio), Dallas, Houston,
Long Island (NY) and San Francisco. Peapod
has over 98,000 members who can access
current product and pricing information via
the Internet. Peapod customers can shop
online for their groceries and place orders on
the Web. Peapod will deliver groceries at the
time requested by the buyer for a nominal
service charge. Peapod's corporate
headquarters are located in Skokie, Illinois.

TDMI was chosen to implement the online
direct marketing programs because of its
extensive experience in direct response
communications that integrate banners,
emails and other direct marketing programs.
TDMI began integrating interactive media into
direct marketing communications in 1993 and
has since become a leader in applying direct
response strategy to the Internet to help
companies increase ROI, reduce costs and
build highly qualified prospect databases.
