Meredith Broadcasting Group Teams with THOMCAST Communications for DTV Transmitters
(Last updated 11:14 AM ET January 18)

SOUTHWICK, Mass. (BUSINESS WIRE) - Meredith Broadcasting Group has signed an agreement with the COMARK Division of THOMCAST Communications, Inc., for the purchase of digital transmitters for its station group. Meredith stations WFSB in Hartford, WOFL in Orlando, KPDX in Portland, and KPHO in Phoenix have placed orders for COMARK digital transmitters as they gear up for an on-air date of November 1, 1999. COMARK is also supplying a 40 KW Optimum VHF solid state transmitter to KPHO in Phoenix.
The COMARK Division will supply each of the Meredith Broadcasting stations with a COMARK high power digital transmitter, which utilizes the advanced DAP(TM) (digital adaptive pre-correction) technology. This technology is standard in all COMARK digital transmitter products, and allows for digital correction for transmitter linear and nonlinear performance distortions. Only COMARK has the expertise to offer this technology.

"Meredith is a prestigious organization with deep roots in the broadcast industry", states Richard Fiore, COMARK's Vice President of Sales. "COMARK has been supplying the Meredith Group with our IOX line of transmitters for many years and we are pleased to expand upon our existing relationship with Meredith Broadcasting Group as we forge ahead into the digital age."
