I know, which is why I said it's wasn't Microsoft's fault. I was mad at Dell about this, however, because they don't make it easy. And there is also something wrong with my hardware that wouldn't let plub&play detect that something was in there.

Easy install for Linux would be THE killer app to take it more mainstream. But that's easier said than done for the Linux folks. I put Red Hat 5.1 on both a desktop and it was quite challenging (and while I'm not a professional/experienced programmer, I'm still very good with computers). I would have liked to install it on my laptop, but it's a no-go with NeoMagic graphics chips.
