You have to look at all the facts. Volker was told that if he insisted on reappointment he would regret it. You can't force a president to any thing. I resent your aspersions on my intellectual honesty.
That Greenspan accepted money to publish his approval of the investment quality and outlook of Lincoln debentures (they eventually defaulted) for money is of public record. Before you libel someone, especially a professional who doesn't have to prove damages, be sure of your facts straight -- otherwise I can prove malice and collect punitive damages. Luckily you chose to libel me, who never sues.
By the way, who appointed Volker? Look it up if you know how. That exactly my point. Even though Carter knew that Volker refused to bend to political pressure (he told Carter he wouldn't bend), Carter appointed him anyway, even though his political and economic advisers said it was political suicide. That's courage. I would prefer an apology (a private one will do) before or at the same time that you post to me again.
