Hola, Senor Arango! Yo note, no Z. <G>

I read Repsol paid $38 per share for the 15%. They funded the purchase with debt.

That no one else bid does surprise me.

I had been thinking about this deal, especially since Perez Companc might be involved. But I decided early this week Perez wouldn't make an effort. The Perez Companc family has just made an acquisition, and I didn't suppose the company's balance sheet would support it very well.

Anyway,...I've always liked Repsol. I'm glad they made the buy.

How about this?

Argentine opposition leaders this morning proposed merging YPF with Petroleo Brasileiro once the privatization of Petrobas is complete.

After reading a little more, I have to guess that some Argentines are afraid of losing control of YPF to Repsol. The deal today includes language to change the company by-laws and permit Repsol, in due time, to make a take-over bid.
