OT Jim -- sorry you're so blazingly ignorant. Carter appointed Volker who was sworn to stop inflation, cost what it may. It cost the election. The military build up started under Carter -- remember the Pershings in Germany? I urge you for the sake of your rapidly deteriorating reputation to learn something about world history. I daresay I have wrecked more businesses than you have even swept the floors of. Many years ago (71?) I tried to convince the old A.T.&T. to consider data networking using IP and packets. No one was interested. I decided they probably knew more than me so I veered off. I was wrong of course. It cost me a fortune. Hey, how about your military experience? I've always held that anyone who had not served his country under arms should keep his mouth shut on military matters. Kissinger at least was a Sergeant like me (butI was a Marine, not some candy-assed doggie. Ever made any hydrogen bombs? I scheduled the first tritium production in the US. Ever build any big computers. I managed the prime contractor of he biggest computer in the world in 1975. (It never worked very well, I m afraid, but don't blame that on me. I didn't pick Burroughs to manufacture it. We procured the first multilevel boards, and LSI chips (from TI) and laser ROM. I have also organized lemon-aid stands, soil testing companies, newspapers, dance orchestras, riots, research centers, labor unions, and many many other unprofitable enterprises. Someone ought to hire me to compete with Intel (to tie this to the thread.) Reagan may have given the nation the right medicine, but I would like a copy of the prescription. It was a clyster anyway. What specifically do you think he did? I never ssaw any evidence that he could even add a column of one digit figures. There are some people in the political know in California (including the Brown family) that believe that I played a role exceeded by none in electing Reagan as Governor. Its an interesting story, but I don't feel safe in telling it here. Another time, perhaps. Oh, and thank for the gracious offer to rescue me at sea. It's not a common right wing position. Sink or swin, they say. Of course, I'm well prepared for disaster at sea. I've spent more time under water than above it, at least in my investments. Oh, that sesert rescue was commanded by a old high-school mate who used to beat my ass occasionally (Beckwith) which just reinforces my thoughts about the army. He was a football player, and I was Cadet Colonel. Who did they pick to command Desert 1 ? Beckwith. I was available. But Beckwith! I got out. Those Georgia boys just made a mess. Of course, if they send PhibRecon with the Marine choppers the thing would have been done expeditiously. But Army? Get outa here.
