Yeah, the computer has to wait for us, no matter what, even if it is an 8088. At least the computer never gets impatient with us. Good thing they are stupid.<g>

To All, Tech Review review. Earlie's excellent newletter, The Tech Review is out, and since he gave me permission to crib from it, I plan to review it here every month as I do Hickey's letter and my weekly Barron's review. Even if my Word program tells me that Earlie's partner, DAnny Donn, needs a spell check on his last name. <G>

1. As is often the case, Earlie finds an embarrassing quote to add color to the issue. This time, the Director General of the IMF tells us, in November, that despite what "frivolous" commentators say, Latin America is solid. Hey, why does the Review pick on this guy? It took two whole months after he said it was solid before Latin America fell apart. Again! <G>

2. A good exposition of the Brazilian problem and our "recovered" banking system follows.

3. An excellent discussion of why Greenspan has to make "Sophie's Choice" between the buck and the stock market. Today's news about our soaring trade deficit adds background singer's to the Review's ballad. Meryl Streep for Fed Chairperson? <G>

4. The Review makes fun of First Call's 1998 eps estimates. I don't understand this bit of vicious slander. First Call, which had a consensus view of up 17% last year, while eps will probably come in with negative growth, is just a slight miss. Lighten up guys. <G> And they are even nasty enough to quote Alice Rivlin, who can't seem to get with the new pair of dimes program. Stick a sock in it, Alice, we're having fun making money and reality doesn't matter. <G> (Continued)
