I saw this interview as well. After he [benhamou] was asked "are you ready to grow the company again and reach these old [$75] highs?" his reaction was humorless and depressing. Basically he hedged. What did he mean when he said "long term we will converge on 15% profits." Does he mean margin? In any case It wasn't inspiring.

I'm long the stock, just a bit peeved that this guy seems utterly unwilling or unable to spend some time and learn how to do PR in an interview - instead of realizing he's talking to his investors, he acts like he's talking to a banker who's interviewing him for a loan.

>> NO comment on whether it will ever
reach $75 again <<

Boy, this is a retarded response. I heard the interview
over the phone. The problem with Eric B. is that he
sounds like an engineer because he is an engineer.

But, the questions were business related and if you
just listen, it's obvious there was absolutely nothing wrong
with what he said. It's basically, cut costs, cut costs,
improve distribution methods, improve distribution methods,
cut costs some more, get better margins, blah, blah,blah...

Absolutely nothing negative. He is not a rah, rah, rah, type
guy, but like Andy Grove, he's a engineer/scientist that
is trying to make his company a well oiled efficient machine.

The other thing he might be accused of was stating that
CISCO, and NT, etc. are in another area of competition,
and COMS is working on the "edge". Probably, not many
people understood this, but he did try to say that
he was honing in on consumer gadgets, and small business
gadgets, etc...basically saying there's a huge untapped
market in this area. The thing is he and the company
have to educate the rest of the country on this - no
easy task. But even CSCO is making an attempt at it for
the sake of PR, but COMS is way ahead in the appliace-networking
PR game. Once it gets rolling, COMS will be miles ahead
of anybody, because they all will have missed the boat
completely (we hope).

This is not to say that COMS is "not" in VoIP. It is
most definitely, but they are playing the soft touch. Much
better than going head-to-head with CSCO and LU at the moment.
That would be a rude PR game to play with them. Let COMS
build up some success at first. Networking people and IS
managers know who's products are good. They don't have
to listen to jerk-off-interviews on CNBC to figure it out.
They just read the trade journals and talk to people who buy/use
the equipment day-in and day-out and they find out
there's no question COMS is a quality leader in the field.
