<<<Amazon may go down further and probably will......But they have extraordinary
marketing technology and presence. They can sell anything they choose to sell. >>>

This is one of the dumbest comments I have seen around here in awhile if it was meant to justify amzn as a going concern ... as others have pointed out -- the trick is profitably. i have separate point in mind. if amzn is still routinely referred to as "the online bookseller" despite the addition of other items, why do you suppose that amzn will succeed in creating a new brand image as a supermarket/shop bot (and a price insensitive one at that!)?????

i can see the headlines now: "amzn.com the online bookseller has realized that it cannot be profitable selling books so it will try to become a shopping site" followed by rolling eyes on cnbc's and muffled laughter in barron's bus week et al ...

not real likely kids -- and if you're hoping for a buy out, better hope fast because when i last checked aol, yahoo, msn, et al had already figured out that they can make more money by letting retailers bash each others' brains out on price comparison (and even exacerbating the tendency by providing their own bots) while they collected ad revenue and a % take, no matter who sold the items

... bears were right all along (yawn no surprise) ... bulls made far more money to this point

btw, never figured out if william and mark believed the silliness that passed for "analysis" of amzn's profit potential (if so, where are your posts telling us how you're loading up on amzn at these bargain basement levels) or if they just let their emotions and gargantuan winnings run away with them ???
