Unitec International Controls Corp -
Kaiser says Unitec a buy on expansion hopes
Unitec International Controls Corp UIC
Shares issued 21,209,129 1999-01-19 close $0.26
Tuesday Jan 19 1999
John Kaiser, making his recommendations for 1999 in a Dec. 11, 1998 Bottom-Fishing Report, says Unitec International Controls is a medium-priority buy at 25 cents. Unitec builds monitoring systems for utilities, oil and gas pipelines, the transportation industry and government agencies. Mr. Kaiser notes that Unitec has clients around the world, $5-million in back orders, 14 projects underway, and posted revenues for the nine months ending August 1998 of $2.2-million. The stock peaked at $3.45 in March 1994 and has slid since that time. The market is skeptical the company can expand to the point where its revenues force a higher share price. If it fails, it risks oblivion. That situation makes for good bottom fishing, says Mr. Kaiser, who adds fellow letter writer Chris Bunka came to a similar conclusion. Unitec's cash position is $650,000.

Unitec signs agreement with Sun Microsystems

Unitec International Controls Corp UIC
Shares issued 21,209,129 Jan 21 close $0.24
Thu 21 Jan 99 News Release
Mr. Howard Jampolsky reports
Unitec has signed an agreement with Sun Microsystems Canada Inc.,
appointing Unitec as a member of the Sun Developer Connection program.
Sun Microsystems is the leader in the development of Java language and Jini
environments as well as workstations and related operating systems. The
Java language is a cross platform "write once, run anywhere" language which
allows software to run on PC and UNIX platforms.
Unitec's product development has been initially focused toward small scale
SCADA systems running on PC platforms. The company's products have recently
come into demand by medium and large scale SCADA users operating in UNIX
environments. Developing a UNIX version of Unitec Gold SCADA software to
meet this new opportunity would require new development and continuing
duplication of charges to both PC and UNIX versions.
The development of a Unitec Gold SCADA operating system in the Java
language will provide scalability between small and large applications and
maximize efficiencies in the enhancement of Unitec's software products.
Under the agreement, Unitec will port its software products to the Sun
Solaris' environment and make them compatible with Sun SPARC workstations.
After successfully porting its products, Unitec will also be eligible for
participation in Sun's Market development programs.
