Hello again Bill,

Yes, I had the nearsightness with astigmatism correction (Lasik.)
There was little pain, the procedure lasted five minutes and my correction was instantaneous. There was a "halo" effect for a while but not nearly as annoying as what I was prepared for. They scare you a little with their standard risk and reward song and dance, but the rewards have been stellar and the risks are way less than one percent. Probably the most annoying aspect of the procedure was the "black out" period that lasted for a few seconds as the microkeratome passed over my cornea. Getting prepped with the gadget to hold my eye in place was a little uncomfortable but not nearly as uncomfortable as I thought it would be. I was a contact lens wearer for nearly 25 years, and I have had way more uncomfortable moments in the hassles with my contact lenses. I love the outdoors, and everytime a wind or a breeze blew through my eyes were enshrouded with dust. It was so frustrating that I took the plunge and had the surgery done. I can't say enough good about it, and my program that I am on is lifetime so any and all revisions that I need are taken care of at no additional cost. I was offered the opportunity to have one eye adjusted for reading but I declined, because I felt like it was kind of a guinea pig procedure. I am glad with that decision too, because my reading is great. There is an adjustment period from near to far after doing the contrary. For example, if I have been reading for a while, my distance takes a while to sharpen up, and vice-a-versa.

Anyways, yes I have watched SNRS kinda casually for many years, and think that laser procedure will be the gold standard for vision correction for the majority in years to come.

No more contacts and glasses!!!

NYRR is quite the ghost train isn't it! It was alot more fun when Jack was around to haunt the place! I miss his page long haha's! Jack W. Garnes is radical :o)

Best of luck,
Cindy

Good stock picking William!

Sunrise is doing really well! I forgot to answer your question as to the recovery time with my laser vision correction. Pain-wise, there is just a very mild scratchy sensation that is minimally bothersome for the first 24 hours. The protective bubble that is taped to your eyes after surgery can be removed after 24 hours. The pain and discomfort is really insignificant, and vision is instantaneous. I didn't even need the 24 hour time frame for my vision to sharpen up. I could see 20/15 OS and 20/25 OD immediately after the laser surgery. I would highly recommend this procedure. Laser surgery has been a whole new visual experience for me. In addition to seeing with more detail and clarity, --even colors seem to have a brighter and prettier dimension! You will love the results, and I would encourage you to go ahead with this procedure.

Good luck all and congrats for getting in on this one. It looks like a winner.
