David, it might be helpful if you defined whether your "risky" portfolio is a trading one with short term churn, mid term months to year time frame or long term retirement type time frame.

Shameless off topic advertisement for
my stocks...please disregard biotech gurus;-)

David (and any other lurkers) If you have 100M
to spend please put 10M each into these...and
thank you for your support.

actually, hold off on tgen, I sold that one a couple
days ago when it popped off a Seattle Times article).

All kidding aside, the Model Portfolio thread is not
a bad place to hunt for ideas and you would probably
do well to avoid my picks...although you will see a
couple of symbols on that list which have showed up
for discussion here.

But I'll tell you, the big gains are not made by
trading, look at this:

12/03/98 I Bought CELG 1000 9 1/8
12/07/98 I Sold CELG 1000 11 11/16

Sickening isn't it with Celgene now at $17.

These guys would be quick to say not to buy their
ideas just because they like something, but when
these guys pick a winner, no sense in simply scalping
it for a buck or two. Just my two cents.

And here is another thought--wait for the market
to tank someday and just buy some HQL or HQH when
they are trading at a discount...probably a lot
smarter than trying to go for individual picks if
you are not one of the gurus...I know I'm not and
if I had any sense, that is what I would do.
