Any idea whats causing 98 not to quit?

Gremlins?

I do not have a clue. One thing I would do is disable USB (unless of course you have USB devices). I have seen a lot of conflicts resolved by disabling USB.

Check out device manager if you have not already. Look for yellow check marks indicating conflicts (start/settings/control panel/system..in win95, probably the same in Win98). Look around for USB related things in device manager too.

Be careful messing around in device manager...especially if you do not have a Drive Image<g>

Clarence,

The NT driver install sucks. Its buggy as hell. Its givin me fits every single time I load it. Call Matrox. they gave up me once and I had to re-install NT, I posted my trama here. Sorry I can't help right now. I'm leaving for Jackson Hole for 10 Days of Big Powder Snow boarding.

Everyone have fun while I'm gone. I expect to see everyones systems working when I return :)

Clarence, [W98 not shutting down cleanly]

After you exceed resources, memory or you blow up a task (blue screen of death or BSD) Win95/98 is afu. This is why people put up with NT's install: NT doesn't let one task screw everything else (or at least that is what they tell us <g>).

If w95/98 hangs, press reset. If you were running a LOT of tasks, subtract 1 from you mental limit of simultaneous tasks. If you consuming hugh amounts of memory/resources - plan to consume less. And expect someone to add "If you were running W98 - run NT!"

Welcome to the wonderful world of wintel!

Paul
