Thats why my 2 biggest holdings are and have been:

IBM: the worlds greatest company. Every year its #1 in new patents and is up 8 or 900 % in the past 5 years after years of doing poorly.

Actv: not a great company yet, but it will be. It has the world's most valuable collection of patents in the realm of convergence of the PC and television and interactivity.
