He might also check to see that he has the power switch connector connected to the right pins on the mobo, or see if they are perhaps reversed. Win 98 sends a shutdown command via that connector, and if it is not connected properly, the system will not shut itself down. Info on which connector it is should be in the mobo manual, in the same place where the HDD LED, SPEAKER, RESET, etc. pin connector instructions are. Should also be some markings on the mobo as well. zp especially if you do not have a Drive Image<g> Thats the first thing that I thought <gg> I'll disable the USB ... if I can find it.. although that shouldn't be too difficult. I'll try a shutdown w/o the Matrox sw too.... maybe Gremlin there Clarence
