Ten - Re: Intel & Samsung Rambus.

My take on this is as follows.

Several days ago (last week ?) Samsung announced that they were going to begin small volume production of Direct RDRAMs, after completing their design and debug of the chips 64/72 Megabits.

I think Intel held them to THOSE MILESTONES - then and only then did Intel make the investment.

So my guess is that this deal has been in the works for a long time - but Intel played hard ball to get Samsung to reach the production stage for DRDRAMs BEFORE making the investment. That way, Intel gets exactly what they paid for - IN ADVANCE !

Like you, I have a reason or two I'd like to see RAMBUS go up in price - I have been selling PUTS HEAVILY ever since their stock plummeted last Friday - and then bounced back up.

About this Intel Samsung deal. Doesn't Samsung have the rights to produce Alpha chips. For some reason, always thought the alpha chip to have more threat potential than AMD or the rest of the wannabe's chips.
