Edwarda:

the version that irritates me is the following:

"You know what I'm saying?"

There must be some sort of linguistic or speech term for those "fillers" that people often stick into their conversations. I hear many conversations punctuated with "huh?", "y'know?", "see?" and so forth. It does get annoying after a while. The public speaking organization "Toastmasters" has a system to stop people from saying "ah" or "uh" during their talks. Someone counts the number of times the speaker says it and they are fined a certain amount of money for each one.

Heard on the 'box this morning:
"by a factor of tenfold"
So that's, uhm, 100x?
