Has anyone done due diligence on this new partner - ELON? I understand Chambers spoke highly of them at a recent trade show. TIA

Frank, indications are that IP's co-existence, and in fact further bonding, with ATM will continue for the foreseeable future.

The catalyst for this marriage will be the broad adoption of MPLS by the major service providers later this year. As a bridging agent between layer 2 and layer 3, MPLS already has proven its ability to unite routing and switching. However, MPLS is being deployed to support more than just destination information. Already, major carriers and ISPs are starting to embed pre-configured service attributes in MPLS labels to acommodate QoS, VPN and other added value network services.

This will result in both continued deployment of ATM and a manageable implementation of IP-based services in the same network infrastructure. IMO, this is significantly more compelling for service providers than competing implementations, like IP Navigator and MPOA.

Obviously, this bodes well for CSCO. What do you think?
