Dr. Hatim Zaghloul reports
Wi-Lan Inc. has received two purchase orders totalling $550,000 (U.S.) from Telia GlobalCast Internetworking for wireless local loop products to expand a national high-speed wireless network in Sweden and several other European countries. The purchase orders are part of restructuring the existing agreement to include other Nordic states and anticipated product orders for $3,000,000 (U.S.) in the year 1999, $10,000,000 (U.S.) in the year 2000 and $24,000,000 (U.S.) in the year 2001.
This restructuring expands on Wi-Lan's Oct. 13, 1997 contract with GlobalCast Internetworking prior to its takeover by Swedish telecommunications giant, Telia AB (press release in Stockwatch Jan. 21, 1999). The 1997 agreement formalized a two-phase project that enabled GlobalCast to use Wi-Lan's Hopper Plus wireless Ethernet bridge to bring high-speed wireless Internet access to Stockholm, Sweden and outlying areas.
Telia GlobalCast Internetworking AB will use Wi-Lan's Hopper Plus wireless Ethernet bridges and W-OFDM products to offer high-speed wireless Internet access and intranet services to small-sized and medium-sized businesses and small office/home office workers. The rollout will begin throughout Sweden in 1999 and similar Local Wireless Access rollouts will follow in Norway, Finland, Denmark and Baltic countries. The first Hopper Plus units will be shipped from Wi-Lan on Feb. 5, 1999. Products using Wi-Lan's patented W-OFDM technology will be shipped as soon as they are available with 30 units being commissioned by July 15, 1999.

Hi again Randall. This thread sure is placid with WIN making a slue of announcements lately.
Huge surges in volume, trades and most definitely price these last few weeks..
It certainly is impressive to see WIN taking the steps to bring this company to the next level.
Mr. Dunbar's involvement with WIN should really get things going as my contacts in the industry have said that he can tend to be a "mover and a shaker" Anyway I put it, the stock is speaking for itself.

Further to our previous discussion about WIN's and other company's equipment do you have an opinion on the following?

PSINet, an international ISP is using Airdata Wiman's wireless modem to
provide wireless Internet service in selected areas of Florida, Tennessee,
Alabama, Kentucky and North Carolina.
Airdata Wiman is claiming that their technology which uses frequency hopping, is more superior than Wi-Lan's direct sequence technology, especially in a point to multipoint
configuration.

If there are any other who would like to add to this conversation please do, pro or con.

Cheers Randall.

Nathan
