New Access Communications, located in Santa Barbara, California, is an innovative new start-up
company in the field of optical networks. Founded in March of 1998, by Dr. Near Margalit, the inventor
of the MetroFusion architecture, it is dedicated to bringing Dynamic DWDM to the local access loop.
Dr. Margalit has a B.S. from Caltech in Applied Physics and a Ph.D. from the University of California
at Santa Barbara in Optoelectronics, and has published over 30 papers in technical journals and
conferences. The New Access team has members with specialty in data communications, hardware
design, software protocols, and optoelectronic components. This cross-disciplinary team will enable
tight integration of the varying aspect of the MetroFusion architecture. First round funding was
supplied by MRV Communications, a leading provider of fiber-optic components and network
systems.

Anyone know of this connection with MRV?
John

I think I remember they had some sort of relationship with the University of Santa Barbara Re:Foundry
Sector, do you recall any of this when we toured the foundry??

Well, I did watch the action of the MMs on my LII and it was interesting.

The hands down winner of the MM sitting on the ask virtually the entire day was MASH (Mayer& Schwertzer). At the close they were the only MM offering at 8 3/16 and this was common throughout the day. Our stock was strong (and on no news!) and I feel reasonably certain that but for Mayer & Schwertzer we would have closed higher yet.

Does anyone know anything about this broker? Do they have any connection with our company or its management?

The MMs on the bid were a far more varied and changeable group: Sherwood, Stco(Stuart, Coleman& Co), TSCO (Trosker, Singer, Stevens), Openheimer, BLUE, Merril Lynch were among the MMs at the top of the bid.

I would appreciate if someone can supply us with some information on Mayer & Schwertzer.

Bruce
