On the other hand, this week's Net slump could be great for us. If you could wake up Monday with AMZN in the 80s, CMGI in the 70s, YHOO in the 210s . . . what would you do? If you're like me, you'd likely be reading the tea leaves pretty closely to see if this represented a buying opportunity. I'm guessing that a weekend of depressed prices would create significant temptation to dive in and try to steal some bargains.

This scenario assumes that there's still a lot of money sitting on the sidelines, in the hands of "irrationally exuberant" people. And I may well be wrong. But I'd rather have NAVR bring out news in a context where the market for Nets looks "cheap" rather than toppy.

I readily confess that I'm reaching to put a positive spin on a down day. But I also think there's something to this thinking. Let's hope that the Nets look like screaming good buys again when NAVR gets off its tail and moves forward.
