Helen: I use a COMPAQ Deskpro, with HWP Scanner and Printer. I have treated the Desktop quite badly and moved it thousands of miles several times, without proper handling, but it works fine.

I actually work for Compaq, use Compaq at home, in office and when I travel. I use Compaq handhelds as well. I am happy with all of them.

Compaq is now a true enterprise solutions company with the DEC & Tandem merger, and does a lot more than just selling PCs, servers and Altavista. I see a lot of discussions based on these factors on this thread, but Compaq business model has significantly changed after these mergers.

BTW, Compaq CEO EP will be on NBR tonight. It should be a better interview compared to CNBC one few days ago.

-Nilesh.

Curious... How does one burn out a modem?
