PFEr Tonight: 1/21/99

BigKNY3 1/20/99:<< Da Bottom Line: Based on Wayback Machine history and gut-feels (and in the spirit of Broadway Joe...J-E-T-S), Mr. Peabody boldly guarantees that the PFE Board will announce their intention to split the PFE stock at their next meeting. Moreover, the Board will request shareholders to increase the number of authorized PFE shares to enable a 3-1 split. This request will be approved at the annual meeting in April. Moreover, here is a prediction on the short-term reaction to the announcement: PFE will jump 1-3 points before profit-taking takes over and PFE actually closes lower for the day. Long-term, PFE will repeat its excellent split-year performances>>

Nat, it looks like the Board did not meet today....no press releases were issued announcing the state of the 1st Qt dividend like the following one issued in 1998:

"NEW YORK, Jan. 22 1998 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Pfizer Inc (NYSE: PFE) today declared a 19-cent first-quarter dividend on the company's common stock, an approximately 12-percent increase over last year's quarterly dividend, payable March 12, 1998, to shareholders of record on February 6, 1998.

In 1997, Pfizer's full-year dividend payments, adjusted for the June 1997 two-for-one split of its common stock in the form of a 100-percent stock dividend, totaled $.68 a share, consisting of four quarterly payments of 17 cents each."

Meanwhile PFE was subject to profit-taking today with the general market decline .....after hitting a high of 121 in the am:
