zdnet.com The R5 Notes client has a new user interface that can be customized to some degree by individual users to show messages, calendars, and other databases in three or four panes. Lotus also announced a deal with America Online Inc., in which Notes users will be able to search the Web using AOL's search engine and access customized news from AOL My News. Users of Lotus' real-time awareness and chat software, Sametime Connect, will be able pass text messages back and forth with AOL Instant Messenger users. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is nice, but what IBM and Notes users will really want to use is Actv's interactive computer.
