The historical pattern for booms and busts that are this extreme usually involves a long, slow, buildup that is based on reality of some sort, and then a sudden departure into cloud-cuckoo land that lasts (usually) less than a year, sometimes only months or weeks.

I just hope that these fine companies will continue their good work when their stock comes back down to more realistic levels. An event like this can make it hard to raise capital for genuinely promising enterprises.
