AMD is definitely in a downtrend. Stochastics is an oscillator (not a trend indicator) that's indicative off overbought-oversold. Under 25 is oversold and over 75 is overbought. It can give you an indication when the security is going to change direction. Depending on how many periods you use it can be a short to long term indicator. There-in lies the hitch.
If you know the longer term trend you may find stochastics useful in picking shorter term buy and sell points.
