Paul, Enron Communications purchased Optec Systems in 97 to begin laying the groundwork for this fiber network announcement. ENE Communications recently sold Optec to FirstWorld Communications- a CLEC from Colorado. FirstWorld is growing rapidly and recently purchased an ISP in the Bay Area-Slip.Net to expand on it's competitive advantage inherent in ENE's backbone from Portland to San Diego. A great strategy for ENE as they roll out competitive energy packages and Internet Access nationwide over their Rights of Way along the gas lines. -joarel
