You are correct. But there are many professional short sellers of IOM out there to create artificial momentum to scare both buyers and sellers.

In fact, I might expect to see a last hour assault on the price by the shorts so they can drive the price down and scare some shares out of the public on the cheap.

i wasn't referring to IOM when i wrote of eod buying, etc. i was speaking of trading in general, and of the interpretation of buys and sells. you are correct about specialists on the nyse, and you may substitute specialists for mm's in my post if you feel it's important. but it really has nothing to do with my point.
