I would think the steroids make you grouchy, my husband says they do me. I got a sore throat a couple of days ago, so I cut back, because they seem to keep me from healing. Instead of 5mg in the morning and 5 mg in the evening, I am taking 7.5 mg in the morning. I feel brighter, perkier. And my throat is getting better.

I have not quit drinking completely, I switched from vodka to beer, and am tapering down, but four out of the past seven days I have not drunk at all, and I did feel better in the morning. Quitting drinking may explain why you are irritable, alcohol is a depressant, it depresses your nervous system, so if you quit you will be irritable for a while, but eventually you will get over it.
