Trade Show info:
As some of you may know (and I believe that I posted this a while back), QTNT has 2 important trade shows coming up.
The first one is next weekend -- Super Bowl Weekend, and my colleague Maribel Lopez, who works with me on ths QTNT account, will be attending (guess which one of us isn't a football fan?). It is called the Outdoor Retailer Winter Show, and it is held in Salt Lake City. Outdoor Retailer is the sponsoring magazine. It is a regional show focusing on the outdoors, with the majority of the participans coming form west of the Mississippi River. However, make no mistake -- this show is important, with tens of thousands of people attending.
The 2nd show is called the Super Show, and it is the largest sporting goods trade show in the world. It is huge...with attendance well over 80,000 people. The Super Show is held in Atlanta over Valentine's Day Weekend (2/12-2/15), and QTNT will be exhibiting in the New Products Pavilion.
As far as partcipation, QTNT has a booth twice standard size for 2 reasons. 1) To attract attention. 2) We need the extra room to show off the tents. The company did spend some dollars in preparation for these shows, purchasing advertisements, banners, and other publicity opportunitites.
Also, at both shows, the company will be debuting the new and improved QTNT. Roughly 50 tents or so have arrived back from the factory overseas, and these tents will be taken to the 2 trade shows. In approx. 2 weeks, the first shipment of several thousand tents will arrive, and the majority of those will be used to fill an existing order for $600,000.
Obviously, the goals of the trade shows is to 1) Exhibit the tent and establish a list of contacts who may be interested in purchasing tents (remember, sporting goods dealers and distributors are the main attendees of these shows, other than the exhibitors and the media) 2) Make sure the media knows about the tent (Maribel's and my job) 3) perhaps make contacts for other avenues of distribution (Home shopping club?)
Having atttended more trade shows than I care to remember, I can tell you that I firmly believe that QTNT will have a strong showing at both shows. It is a very unique hi-quality product that fills a very large niche. I will be more than happy to report the results of the Outdoor Retailer Show just as soon as Maribel gets back on Feb 2.
