Amusing but not helpful:

A list of companies that have been rumored to be acquiring LCOS (in alphabetical order, not by likelihood...) --

Amazon.com
AT&T
Bertelmann
CBS
Microsoft
Sony
Time Warner
Yahoo

Any others out there? Does the flurry of rumors mean that LCOS will be acquired? Not necessarily. The fact that there are so many players out there who might want to buy in suggests that the last independent might benefit from staying independent for awhile longer to increase the cost to the eventual acquirer. Will LCOS ever be acquired? It seems like a necessity to remain competitive in the rapidly narrowing marketplace. Look at the competitors:

AOL-NSCP
YHOO
ATHM-XCIT

LCOS needs to bulk up to compete.
