Well, Blonde, I sold all my shares last week after I talked to friends in Taiwain. What I were told is that there're problems with
two of their products(one old and one new, not sure if tiny switch is one of them). Also one of their biggest customers in Taiwan decided to buy parts from Motorola, at lower price eventhough the pin out is slightly different. I guess Motorola will try to hammer them as both still fighting legal battle.

I still think it's a good company, but they're certainly not the only one in the field as for all the semi. business.

I think the peaks are related to peaks in the underlying cell phone and PC business. Since these are often given as gifts (paid for with bonus money), bought by governments and corporations with funding about to run out or to get a tax deduction, etc. this seasonality is not surprising. I follow POWI, but don't own any because the institutional dominated market tends to favor big companies. At the right price I might buy. The worry is that this company is a one or two trick pony, vulnerable to some smart kids in a garage .

Oh, just want to clarify, I didn't short powi, I've only cash account with my broker and I don't like shorting stock as there's no limit to the loss.

Mr. Blonde: My first impression too is the same that there is reason for concern about growth from here. They don't talk about backlog diminishing or being flat, but do talk about the peaks of business in two lines of business having already passed, as you note. A lack of guidance there could be meaningful. They talk about the Tiny Switch, but not about its sales, which means, I suppose, slight sales until now. They make no statement about future sales.

However, they do say 10% of the AC/DC transformers now being sold use their technology. THat's good, it could cascade to much more.

I see the Yahoo thread is reading this as good news, based on the reported earnings. I don't know what the whisper number is.

But if the stock goes up or stays even tomorrow, I may unload on the supposition that there may be a stalling of growth in the next quarter or two.

From Yahoo message board: H & Q raised POWI to "strong buy" from "buy" and raised 1999 earning to 1.47. Wow.
