No, I haven't read Darvas' book, but several people have recommended it to me, so it's on my "to read" list.

My question on stops dealt specifically with setting up ProTA's trading systems. I guess if one's system bought on a breakout that you could use a 5 or 10% stop. But then what do you do to protect profits? ProTA has a trailing stop feature that can be triggered after a certain amount of gain, and a couple of other settings to boot. And, there's always the "Exit Long" trigger that one could use.

As I mentioned in a previous post, ProTA is sufficiently full-featured that I'll take awhile longer to grasp all (or most) of it.

Just wanted to say that I also read the Darvas book and it is one of the best written. His other books are out of print and I have been trying to get them from antique book stores.

On ProTA, I am thinking of trying it after reading posts about it. Question: Since I use Hotline and I would continue to do so, would I be able to dial into DialData twice, to keep both folders current? How would that work? Also, is there a demo of ProTA or screenshots somewhere?

What interests me most is that Hotline's personal alerts are too limited. I would like to program about 20 personal indicators and have them show up by name. Tanks for any help.

Hi Dow Beater,

I just read the Darvas book (…How i made…) and love the simplicity.
I'm new to active investing and trading (from parking in mutual funds). Since his book is so old, do the concepts still apply well in today's
faster-paced markets?
