From a Reuters article:

Analysts disagreed about the likelihood of a stock-split -- a move often interpreted by investors as a sign of bullishness on the part of company management. A split typically helps to propel a stock higher.

''The stock split has to be in people's minds as it approaches $200,'' Helmig said. ''We've speculated it could be three-for-one.''

Salomon Smith Barney analyst John Jones said a stock split was inevitable but not imminent.

''IBM.com investors don't realize there aren't enough shares to split two-for-one,'' Jones said, referring to overly enthusiastic momentum investors who may not have done their homework before speculating on a share split.

''I think clearly you will see a stock split in April,'' Jones said of the period when IBM reports its first quarter results and holds its regularly scheduled annual
meeting.

Difference: MSFT and INTC both had stellar earning numbers. IBM's number is less than being impressive :o(
