mu's sequential bit growth was down 10% inspite of acquiring txn's fabs 1 month into the q. the net effect was to totally take txn's fabs offline and mu cut down output 10% of what they made, by themselves, during the prior q.

this is unheard of in dram mfrg. either they have serious mfrg problems or they are withholding inventory and/or production in order to manipulate pricing.

either way, it will come back online and absorb a lot of demand.

January 18, 1999 (TOKYO) -- Sales of personal computers at Japan's mass retailers of electric appliances in the third week of December 1998 declined from the previous week.
This was the second straight week that sales fell below the week-before level. However, sustained growth is observed in sales in comparison with the same period in 1997.
