Here is a reason why telco and cable companies will align with ISPs such as MSPG or ELNK: fnews.yahoo.com In addition to building the next-generation systems that lay the foundation for high-speed Internet service, the telcos and cable firms also will have to spend huge sums of money marketing these new services to acquire a new class of customers that aren't so geeky. Perhaps that's one reason why @Home needs Excite: to get direct prime-time access to the sixth most heavily visited site on the Internet. The reason is marketing. Disclaimer: I am currently invested in ELNK but I am also interested in MSPG (or any stock that makes me money :) ).
